brieBrie de Meaux (AOC)

A famous cheese with a white bloomy rind and a creamy-yellow paste, originally from Ile de France but now widely made throughout France and in other countries, including England.

Since the Middle Ages this cheese has captured the hearts of all those who have experienced its outstanding taste. In the 19th century is was considered the finest cheese in Europe, thanks to the French statesman Talleyrand who introduced it at a diplomats' dinner.

The classic is Brie de Meaux, made according to AOC regulations in the Ile de France and reputedly tasted by the emperor Charlemagne.

Eaten as a table cheese and also used in canapés and vol-au-vents.

Enjoy Brie with Champagne! A red Bordeaux or Bourgogne is also an excellent choice
